The Fulfords Five

The Fulfords Five is a 5 mile road race around the streets of Exmouth and takes place in February.

A race of 2 laps, that twice runs past the sponsors' premises in Rolle Street.

The long association of Fulfords with this race has been greatly appreciated by Exmouth Harriers over the years, the Fulfords Five was first run in mid 1980’s.

The Fulfords Great West Run 5 is well established, as one of the first road races of the year, for many athletes in Devon and further a-field.

The race however is so much more than the first chance for the serious athletes to dust off their racing shoes; the distance, a mere 5 miles is an ideal distance for first time racers, who feel the distance is well within their capabilities.

This is highlighted every year with the increasing number of non-club runners, who turn up and have a very rewarding experience of their first proper race.

The support of Fulfords is crucial to Exmouth Harriers, who organise the race.

The organisation starts some 6 months before the event, with permits being sought, from Association of Running Clubs (ARC)

Things swing into full-scale activity some 3 months before the event, with prizes, and awards being ordered, followed by liaison with local Police and St John’s Ambulance.

On the day, Fulfords Staff work alongside Exmouth Harriers members, ensuring things run smoothly. Marshals for the course are supplied by Exmouth Air Cadets, who perform a vital safety function in a professional and cheerful manner.

So either join us in the race, or just come along to watch. Entry forms are available from the website.
